The Story of Dik Kirosketh
« on: November 09, 2010, 12:12:03 am »

Dik Kirosketh was born a swordsman in the town called "Styledkneaded". After leaving his birth home he came upon a strange monster. Her appearance was an enormous monitor twisted into humanoid form with lidless eyes. She had a bloated body with large overlapping scarlet scales. From her body came a foul poisonous gas. She was known as the "Scarlet Devil". She went by the name Ozud Sumdamsto the Ungoldy Deciever. He asked her about her past and everything. The only answer he got was that she was “Master” and that she had a task for him to take upon. She asked him to vanquish a great beast on behalf of the Grand Realms of Waviness. She let him know the beast he would have to slay was a massive Hydra by the name of Mithmic Cleandawns. He would have to travel a day to the southeast till he reached a place called Impaledscarred. The hydra had killed a few humans from the town he was in. He took it upon himself to complete the task given to him and become a hero of his hometown. He wanted a taste of the fame he would receive from this task.
He then set out on his adventure to the cave and by the time he arrived it was dark. After scouting the area outside the cave for a few minutes an enormous hydra approached him and just stared at him. The giant beast had nothing to say. Dik knew he had to do something to get an advantage.  So, the first thing he did was throw his copper dagger which ended up fracturing one of the Hydra's skulls. After that he slashed at the hydra with his bronze sword a few times. The most damage he did was tear some muscle and cut through scales barely. The last hit lodged in of the wounds. The Hydra found that a perfect opportunity to grab him by his arm carrying the sword with one of its mouths. It’s fearsome teeth lodged in the wound tearing through muscle and nerves. It proceeded to lift him up by his arm and flail him around making him lose grip of the sword. After that Dik Kirosketh was turning pale and losing blood rapidly. He kept trying to maneuver around the Hydra to get his sword back, but every time failing and getting bashed into the ground below his feet. After a few failed attempts the hydra proceeded to latch onto Dik’s head crushing through the protective helmet. It then proceeded to flail him around yet again spewing blood everywhere, afterwards, throwing him back onto the ground. You would think that would have been the end... but no. The Hydra grabbed him by the right hand and again lifted him up from the ground and flailed him around to his death.
Dik Kirosketh was a strong brave warrior... unfortunately he just got sent on a suicide mission by the fearsome Scarlet Devil that was referred to as Master.

I think it was more so an allegory used in complaining about the difficulty of randomly generated quests, or an example of such.

You think getting killed is bad? Try being sent to kill a dragon, actually killing that thing and returning home with a rotten spine, unable to stand or walk. Oh, and when you want to report back to your employer, he uses his advantage in mobility to run away from you.
I sure got the bastard later, though...

"... was born a swords man..."

That must have been painful
