Should we be putting the outdoors workshops on the map?

If anyone else wants to set their workshops on the map, just find the workshop in the wiki and copy it over with the same colours. The only parts that take the colour of the workshop material are the solid blocks().

yarg. I've been fairly busy what with the holiday coming up, otherwise I'd do a proper surface map.

Shadow, where does Z-2 match up with Z-1? I'm interpreting it that the channeling designation on Z-1 is over the 1x2 black space on Z-2, which would make it impossible to get back out of there once the rest of the subterranean digging is done. Also, do you have a priority for which tiles get dug first?

Oh yeah. Silly me. I'll fix that, but yes, the levels match up where you think. I'll go fix that.

My intention is that except for completely obvious cases (pretty much only ground, and only until someone expands aboveground stuff) the map is positioned the same at each z-level, like in DF, except that black space is only used where strictly necessary to preserve this, rather than everywhere. For reference, I'm using ÷ (alt+246) with black character colour and background as black space. Any character will do, but that one (barrel) will probably not come up for us too much, since that would be a lot of micromanagement and the map is more for positional reference. I guess a set of barrels could symbolize food stockpile, but we'll figure that out when we get there.

As for priority:
1. Mason's shop
2. Dig under barracks
3. Dig further into side passage

Notably, there is a distressing lack of barrels for all this butchered goodness. Since it is all inside in a food stockpile, it won't decay for a month, but if any vermin gets to it it'll spoil quickly. I've got work soon and a full day tomorrow (hence the early-ish update), so I'm going to put off doing the little other things I should really do. Notably, you now have some Sandstone rocks that I haven't recorded. I also seem to be overly fond of the word "Notably". OH WELL.

Continue with the farm plot.

Are you going to edit the map? I don't know where the sandstone is supposed to be.

For reference, {{RT|%|6:7:0}} will give a sandstone wall. You can add as many % as you need.

I'll make barrels, unless somebody more qualified wants to or I run out of wood, in which case I'll keep gathering plants, while raving at the cats and willing them to shoot spores at eachother.

I don't think anyone is qualified with carpentry here.

I grab the axe and begin chopping wood for barrels.

I'll split my time between burining coal, and smelting the rest of the ores into bronze.

"Sure, I can update the map quick before I go! I've been putting it off enough as it is, I should do it instead of procrastinating."

Well that thought didn't work out at all. It's been a busy thanksgiving for me, but tomorrow I'll definitely be able to polish off my to-do list. It's all sandstone, incidentally.

Current To-Do:

XP
Stocks Update- including Animals
Update Map

I've been sick the last couple of days, so I'm trying to provide just enough information in this post for folks to decide on their next actions. I'll fill out the rest and actually finish my to-do list after work tomorrow.

OK then. Info should be good, although attempting to edit the wiki of Cloisteredtombs made my headache worse. Instead, here is a snapshot of what you got done at Z-2. +'s are cleared space, R is upwards ramp, _ is not-mined space that was designated

Hey, what happened to my Mason's shop.

Also, if you need help with the wiki, just let me know. I would prefer if I wasn't the only person who knows how to make wiki maps. Anyway, I did update the wiki with the new map, but I have no new designations since my current ones will probably fill up the time.
