Inventory:  Leather Armor, Waterskin filled with Dwarven Beer for the hunting trip, Backpack (with 2 servings of Plump Helmets, 1 serving of Num Num rolls, 1 serving of Cave Crab.), Quarterstaff, Rolan's Crossbow and Quiver (borrowed).
(Give the gold bars to Urist for safe-keeping)

Midnight - 4:  Start off by telling Hastur if he cooks any more food today I'm going to kick him in the shin so hard he's going to have a broken leg.  Make sure to deliver on that promise if he attempts to cook any food.  While watching over the camp for the night pray and meditate on the essence of Hipobis Giltgold.

WTF is this. Start off by yelling indignantly and waking the whole camp. Mockingly parody the empty threats, repeat word for word. Then Ironically threaten with "If you dare to do something that you werent gonna do anyways I will have you boiled alive, feed you your own limbs so hard that after i feed your remains to my  chickens  they will vomit you up and then the dogs will eat you and then i will eat the dogs, poop you out and grow a pretty flower from the nutrients." Laugh in his face. "now if you are done trying to stroke your own ego, you'd better go find a better target because its not my fault you were wrong about the barrels. you leaped to far in your assumptions and im not the one making you feel like an idiot about it. I dont care if you can count or not but dont bring your shit to me. I like you I really do . I voted for you  in the election even, but lets get that energy directed somewhere else. I have no interest in these dick measuring contests. Im Just trying to make our food supplies last as best i can." Sandow follows up on the empty threats lol

I love how we can roleplaying being jerks on this roleplaying forum.

Do you mean to build workshops out of, or do you mean turning a boulder into a block into a mug produces a better mug than just going boulder to mug? Would this apply to, say, burning charcoal?

Just to clarify, workshops built out of higher quality tools and tables improve the results made using them, right?

How does melting items down work? Do we lose metal in the process like in DF, or does it just cost fuel and labor?

Building a workshop out of higher quality tools and surfaces improves the work, in both speed and quality. When you use beams for say, making a chair, it's been split into usable pieces, any rot or fractures have been removed, etc. The same applies to blocks; it's already prepared for being worked. With melting metal, it could give a variable amount of return influenced by skill and workshop. Anything lost is destroyed or turned into slag.

Looks like everybody has posted, I'll post Day 3 now.

Holy crap! I just looked at the first post. GM-ing this seems ludicrously intensive. I mean, that relationship web... wow. Huge respect for Shade-o here.

Yeah, I can't imagine.  The games I've run have seemed intensive at times, but they're nothing compared to this.

Gar wakes earlier today, having a brief conversation with the others.

00-06: Sleep in tent.
07-08: Eat breakfast of rock lobster and brine ale.
09-10: Take the puppy Uth for a stroll outside.
10-12: Continue digging according to Digging Plan Gar-Alpha.
12-13: Lunch of num num rolls and Dwarven rum; share drinks and discussion with whomever possible.
13-18: Continue digging according to Digging Plan Gar-Alpha.
18-19: Dinner of Sandow stew and Dwarven wine; more socialising!
19-22: Take a rock, smooth it into a block; if there is time, set up a forge outside (but as close to the entrance of the cave as ventilation allows).
22-24: Cuddle with Uth, Sleep in tent.

As the group dig deeper into the mountain, Gar seems more excited and talks more and more about the kinds of metals we'll find in there, and all the great things we'll do with them!

"There is no denying that food is currently a very serious problem... As such, I propose that we set off for two rations a day. I also propose that we mine out the southern room first and immediately start planting as each spot becomes available. Planting and food gathering are, as of now, our topmost priorities. These times are testing, but together we can make this place a wonder to be beheld by the MountainHome!"

Day 4

1000: Wake up; eat a hearty breakfast of lobster and rum
1100-1600: Take a pick and do some mining

1900: Update stockpile records
2000-0000: More mining!
0100: Eat dinner; lobster and rum

I think the cistern can wait for a while, at least until we mine out some cave farming area.

It'd be best to get the tunnel started while it's freezing and we don't have to worry about flooding, however after that I don't really care.  At least having it planned out would give us a baseline to work off of.

Edit:  Also how is hunting going to work, if I find an animal, do I get to fight it in the RPG format, can the whole thing be in the RPG format?  Or is the best I get to schedule the time and hope everything works out for the best?

Do we need that to start planting? Really, planting is something that needs to be done as soon as possible.

Perhaps we should make a simple stone floodgate to hold back the water until we have the rest of the tunnel mined out.

No not to start planting, we'll need water for maintenance of the crops however.  And yes, a simple stone floodgate would work fine, I just want to get the tunnel started while there is 0 risk of drowning accidents.

Right now I can probably just irrigate with our barrels of water, or by putting ice in a bucket and letting it melt.
That said, a cistern would probably lower irrigation time, so we should still get one, just not right now.
Just my opinion.
