use it to kill goblins.
This is the only important part of what I said.

((And I'm ignoring it so I can play out a character trait.  My character hates Aberrant creatures, so I don't think of using it to kill goblins, only of killing it myself.))

Okay then, I'm not sure why you're all so terrified of it. It's not more threatening than a very ugly dog.

Shem starts picking away at the earth around the entrance, trying to collapse the tunnel. There is suddenly a faint purple glow from the end of the tunnel, and the more sensitive members can feel a surge of magic from below.

 ::)...

Assuming Litast sees the glow, she tells Shem to stop. Now. And probably to get away.

OOC: There is absolutely no need for that.

Yeah, it's probably a good idea to stop.

"It must be stopped!"  I yell dropping out of the tree and running towards the cave.  I dodge anyone who attempts to get near me or stop me and then, as soon as I can see the creature, fire the crossbow at it, then jump on it's back and begin pounding it with my fists, trying to break through the exo-skeleton so I can begin pulling organs out to kill it as fast as possible.

Norrec does just that, and charges down into the tunnel. Instead of finding the creature, there is a glowing portal at the end of the tunnel. It cannot be seen through, but is likely where the creature has come from and has gone to.

((tough choice here.... hmmm, I guess I'll not be suicidal and go in.))

Fire crossbow into portal until it closes, maybe it'll keep anything else from coming through.
