Everyone in the group should first see if they can identify the stone. Probably shouldn't touch it yet, though.

Nobody knows what this thing is. All that is known is what is readily apparent: It is a large crystalline formation of unknown origin, seemingly emanating some sort of magic.

Tholtig, time for you to do your priestly thing and figure out what this thing is.

Examine walls to determine what dug down to this level.

We should all get in a position that we can defend ourselves should the need arise. From there we should try to contact it spiritually, I guess. If that fails, we can resort to more mundane means --  i.e. poke it with a stick.

That stone may be a portal or way for demons to come to this world.

It's a purple crystal, not Adamantine.  It could be some kind of crystal forgotten beast that will burst through the wall the moment we touch it.

After examining the walls, attempt to remember anything from history about magical purple crystals or a purple crystal forgotten beast.

Quote from: My insanely good info.
One of them was more of a rambling-psuedoscience publication, but it did make a few good points. It claimed that 'Night Creatures' had been largely killed off or displaced in the past decades by more powerful demonic creatures that emerged during the Portal Storms.

PORTAL STORMS. I am kind of adverse to touching it bare-skinned.

A thorough investigation of the area:

Tholtig and Litast re-examine the crystal. Without directly interacting with it, it's clear that it is of unnatural origin. If some manner of creature lives in or visits this cave, then it must have value or power.

Norrec examines the walls. They look like they were dug at with claws, but it's fairly old so the marks are faded and indistinct.

Athor searches for loot, but the crystal is the only thing visible in this dead-end tunnel. Just rough stone and dirt.

If only one of you had high archaeologist, priest or philosopher skill... Your group is lacking a proper intellectual. Even a bard would be good, as they run on creativity and knowing lore. The best you have is Urist, who is 'learned'!

Well, there's Nylona, a skilled priest and novice philosopher, but she stayed at camp.

Yay for historically-inept dwarves!  ::)

"Let's get everyone a safe distance from the stone and try throwing a pebble at it. If nothing happens, we could spend the night here and see if whatever Norrec saw returns, although I feel we shouldn't use too much time, as we have a responsibility at the fortress."

Would you like to camp at the end of the tunnel near the crystal or at the entrance?
