((*shrug* doesn't change my action, I want to clear out that cave before whatever is living in there can grow too powerful to hurt us))

While the rest of the group prepares, grab my quarterstaff as well and pray to Hipobis for strength, courage, protection, and glory in his name.

It would be embarrassing if it turned out to be a mundane forest creature, wouldn't it?

Apparently having a redundant creature entry causes the game to say, "Oh, look, it's crazy world now. Nothing makes sense! Alligators live in houses!"

((Meh, my magic senses were tingling, something is funky with that cave.  And now that I've marked the path, I'm going to go and try to actually map out the surrounding area as soon as the crops are all planted and everyone has a bed.))

"I will go on this short expedition. Kogan is to be in charge while we're gone." Says Litast before picking up two clips of throwing knives and packing enough food for three days. "I'd say you should send a two man scouting party to find us if we have not returned after five days."

So we currently have Norrec, Shem, Ochita and myself? I think that seems adequate. I'll only allow one more to come along, as we do need to keep up fortress production.

Survival was due to good strategy by the players, odds stacked in their favour, and plain pure luck.

I killed a giant cave spider as a one-line detail during a drinking contest. He fought a gang of dwarves in melee with a crossbow and got barely scratched, and he punched a dwarf's head off. Forgive me for thinking we were vastly overpowered for the mountainhome segment. :D

Which made me all the more certain we were dead as soon as we left :D

Whoops, sorry. You're in.

I'm going to take a quick inventory of everyone on the expedition.

Please note that the cave is half a day's travel to the north. This means that we will, at the very least, take a full day. I figure we ought to each bring enough food for three days in case of complications.

So far, we have:

I'd come, but I'm trying desperately to get some meat in the stockpiles.
Besides which, I'm a marksdwarf and not good with dark places.

I want to continue with this, but I'll be pretty much incommunicado for the next week - I'm heading to rural Oregon to visit relatives. They have no Internet and only spotty cell coverage.

I'm also getting up at 530AM tomorow morning.

Shade-o, I leave Shem in your hands. Please let the others know about what I experienced in my PM. Also, if we encounter gemstones, I will claim two of the proper color to make into gemstone eyes for the statue.

I'd like to install the statue in a suitable alcove or chapel as soon as possible, as well.

Also, I gained how many ranks in Masonry?

EDIT: Sweet, Adequate Mason.

I'm assuming that means I can hijack him as he's experienced military and we'll probably need that for this.
