I'm really not sure as I have no idea what our fortress's food output will be... Perhaps a couple of cows, a male glow scarab, and a couple month's worth of food and drink. Anyone else have suggestions?

I suppose it's a bit early for articles of confederation.

Somebody mentioned soap, and I agree.  It's relatively complex to produce.  Livestock are also an excellent investment, and slow to... produce.

A bull and female cow. A few barrels of whatever food/drink you decide on. Iron, copper, etc. The male glow scarab. There was something else I have forgotten about. Oh, and leather. Until we have a stable population of cows with surplus we'll want them to bring leather. Assuming the elven caravans come we won't need cloth. Soap will be needed as mentioned before.

Definitely metals. Copper (and perhaps zinc/tin) definitely, silver or gold if you think we'll be wealthy enough to purchase it in three months.

EDIT: And leather. Definitely will need leather.

EDIT EDIT: Will send messages:

I believe this is final.

4 chickens
1 rooster
1 male glow scarab
2 female glow scarabs
A bull
Two cows

I have no idea how much soap will be consumed per wash... Bring 5 bins of soap?
5 bins of leather
3 bins of copper bars

35 barrels of preserved plump helmets
15 Barrels of worm paste
25 barrels of wine
25 barrels of beer

"How are we going to pay for all of this?" Litast thinks to herself.

You can get more seeds from the crops when you harvest them, but not from the plump helmets you packed. They're all dead and preserved.

I had a message to Nikoth, I'm curious as to why that was left out.

That's the official report. Your personal letters get sent separately.

It's messed up because it was hastily written on a buckler.

Also, just a note, I would have preferred something where we'd have actual input but I guess this is fine.

I would have donated one of my precious pieces of paper for the official report.

Yell at the retreating caravan: "... NO! WE FORGOT PAPER! DON'T FORGET TO BRING A BIN OF PAPER!!!"

Don't worry, that image is just for decoration and commemoration. The actual data will be safely stored, and I assure you that you will receive as many, if not more things that you requested.

Don't we have the single fresh barrel that I picked at the Mountainhomes?

Also, are preserved plump helmets good for brewing?
