I'm good without goblin corpses, thanks.

How far are we from the site?

Finally, after weeks of travel out of the Mountainhome the caravan hears the thundering of a waterfall. The pace is most definitely picked up. The river has iced over, and is passable by foot, beast or wagon, but will be unstable and melt in a few weeks.

The slate grey cliffs loom above the treeline, and everybody knows that they have reached their destination. Here will be a bulwark against all enemies. Here will be a citadel of glory and bloodshed. Here will be a DWARF FORTRESS.

I'm somewhat curious as to why you are shaving.

Apologies, was AFK. Just assume I did what was necessary to keep peace in the group

Gar: "How do you make sure you don't ruin the rock - or the ore - that you're mining?"

"Well, that be th'trick'f't. Ye 'ave tae 'ave a feel fer the stone. 'Course, knowin' what raw ore and useful stone looks like is handy, and large chunks of stone're always more useful than bits."

I'll shave my beard with whatever sort of shaving implement is available to me. I'll also give the goblin corpse to whoever wants it. Excluding Shem.

And what use would I have for a goblin corpse if I had any reason to want it?

Meh, I only wanted to make the beard shorter. No real reason.

dragonshardz: I don't know, but you're not getting it anyway, so why are you asking?

Heh, alright, finally a dead goblin.  Well spotted.

Practice butchery on the goblin corpse Nah.

WE'RE HERE!  It's been a long time coming but we're here!

Explore the area near the embark.  After that, start gathering the tastiest-looking plants I can find.
I need to sleep now, but I'll sleep easier knowing we finally reached our destination.

I'll go secure an area for the camp within walking distance of the waterfall.

No need to be an arse, it was a rhetorical question.

CoughDrop, you do realize that the map is most likely not full-scale? And why are we digging down into sand when we have a perfectly serviceable cliff face to dig into? Whoops, nevermind, momentary reversal of the colors.

Also, Begin surveying the area for the best place to begin digging, keeping in mind future defensive structures.

As you look over the land, Adil sketches out a nice map that more accurately shows the lay of the land, including a grid of measurement.

Well, set up tent and then get somebody to help me plow a field close to the waterfall so the mist waters it for me.

"On second thought, Shem, I put you in charge of defensive structures, though I can take over if the need arises. Also, please respect any suggestions that the others may have."
