Tholtig frowns and traces her hands over the designs, trying to figure it out. It seems to create a different effect, but nothing further happens. Kog tries with a symbol from the wall, but that just flares it.

Litast tries splashing the carving and the barrier with water, but nothing happens except making the floor wet.

Norrec is unsure as to what to do, and re-examines the carvings. They still seem to indicate treasures. A prayer to Hipobis gives you a terse response. "Get Mikhail to do it." He's currently poking at the walls.

Denrhymed is staring at the carving.

Suspect that a wealth beast wants me to do things, and wait to be asked to do things.

"Hipobis demands you pray to him now!"  I say to Mikhail.  "If you do he will reveal the way, and you better mean it when you do!"  I say watching him closely, ready to punch him in the back of the head if he disrespects Hipobis Giltgold.

IT'S NOT A WEALTH BEAST!!!

Attempt to trace my hands over the designs in a different order.

Gar: invokes the name of Aned Luckystep to drop some chaos all up in these probabilities.

I can ask of you to do anything, but you don't have to do it.
Litast then goes on to say that she doesn't quite like having to follow orders herself, but sometimes it is better to have a leader to organize a group's decisions. Also, would you kindly do what Norrec is asking?

Search the walls of the room for any symbols similar to that of the idol.

Great beasts are similar to regular deities, but more complicated. They often gain infamous reputations, making their worshippers distrusted. They might even interact directly with you or other entities, which could be very good or very bad. There are only a few that have become famous but are not absolutely hated by your civilisation.

Hipobis Giltgold, Dragon of wealth
Uryvi, Hydra of healing and growth
Ziril Flickerflare, Fire Demon of fire and destruction
Zikath, Frog Demon of water and slime
Neoseixea, Tentacle Demon of depravity

Wealth beast.

Wait.
Norrec prayed to the dragon, and it answered him?

Tholtig tries tracing again, but loses the pattern that was working before.

Mikhail grudgingly prays to Hipobis, but all he gains is a desire to smash things. Stupid dragon.

Kog searches the walls, and finds a small engraving of what appears to be hands around the symbol.

Gar prays to Aned LuckyStep, and suddenly feels very, very, very lucky.

Gar: sticks out his fingers in an unusual pattern and lays his hand against the symbol on the vault.

Oh, maybe my next plan was right after all.

Suggest we all touch the symbol together.

Full of confidence, Gar imitates what Tholtig was doing. He picks a pattern at random and goes purely by instinct, and there's a sudden flash from the symbol and the barrier. He no longer feels lucky.

Tholtig feels upstaged.

"Well I guess it's safe now.  Mikhail, you first."  I say waiting for him to charge straight into a trap.  Serves him right for disrespecting Hipobis Giltgold.
