I've always kind of wondered this. They never seem to use any of the glass mugs I make for them. I like to imagine that they do keg stands.

I always pictured them hoisting the barrel and drinking straight from the tap. Mugs are for trading, not for drinking!

I figure they carry a funnel around with them, and when they mean to drink they lift the barrel above there head, stick the funnel down there neck and pull out a plug from the bottem of the barrel.

I like to just pretend they are using the mugs in the mug stockpile right next to the booze stockpile.. you know?

They dip their beard into the barrel and the alcohol is absorbed through it. Think tree roots. That's why baby dwarves born with beards, they are not just decoration.

Maybe Toady will someday implement such feature that if you have mugs in your fort, the dorfs will get a happy though when drinking from them, but for now, they just seem to pluck it down their necks directly from the barrel

Step 1: Rip off top of barrel.
Step 2: Pick up barrel.
Step 3: Tilt top of barrel toward mouth, and bottom of barrel toward aboveground.
Step 4: Hear chant of "Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug!"

Japa drinks his booze by absorbing it through his symbiotic 'stache. He has to keep that thing away from sandwiches, though.

No you fools! Dwarves drink beer the same way Andilites eat and drink. They shove their big hairy hooves into the booze and their feet absorb it.

I imagine they pick up the barrel, flop down into a sitting position with their feet apart and start chugging until satisfied.
