I'll go out on a limb and say that the dwarf fortress community is very varied background/nationality/gender-wise (still predominately male), generally helpful, and maybe better educated than the average group you would find on any other forum and that it is believable that someone would respect the experiences and opinion of the community enough to ask the question here.

She asked a pretty straightforward question, but everyone was savvy enough to click her profile; check her age; and read her posts and start to doubt if it was for real based on information unrelated to the original question.  There isn't any reason to doubt it IMHO.

Anyways, it seems perfectly normal to me, when it comes to things like pregnancy/childbirth and horomones there isn't such a thing as 'normal' really, you just have to go with the flow.  http://www.circleofmoms.com/breastfeeding-moms/How-long-could-you-lactate-after-you-stop-nursing-523766  this link has the same question asked to a bunch of moms chiming in to say that 10-12 months afterwards was normal to them.

]If they're not and "on the internet" (Besides Facebook), then they're an outlier. If they have at least one geeky thing about them or geeky interest, then their gender is not an outlier at all as they'd end up on an internet forum like this regardless.

Are you seriously making the claim that the only girls on the Internet, as a general rule, are the excessively geeky ones, and that any girl on the Internet who's NOT a walking nerd stereotype is an "outlier"? I'm just trying to clarify here, because if so, that's a really ignorant and ridiculous thing to say.
Much as I normally have the good sense to stay out of this sort of thing, it seems he was saying that females with zero geek traits are outliers on the internet. You seem to have not read very carefully.

Okay, true. On the other hand, wouldn't a male without any "geeky interests" on this forum be an outlier as well?

I feel I must come to my defence. I state resoundingly that I am not a troll. And can hopefully allay some of your suspicions with these answers:
Firstly - The geek things, I did state in that post that I got most of it for free, the 3000 was the overall rough figure.
Secondly - I work in Asda, previously in Tesco.
Third - In my opinion, having a passing knowledge of math, and the works of The Bard does not indicate massive intelligence to me.
Fourth - The spelling and grammar errors are probably directly tied to the fact that it was 12 am when I made the post.
That is all.

I was just saying what a lot of people were thinking. Life Advice is, after all, the trolling grounds of B12. Probably rude, but someone had to get it out in the open.

It's an awkward topic that can be very easily googled, and in a forum where few know the answer. The only reason she would post it here is to casually explain her situation so we could get to know her better. It would turn on the innate troll siren in most people and it's helpful to clear out suspicions in the same thread.

But yeah, give her the benefit of the doubt.

Still, I'm sticking with the "don't belief what people say here". You're statistically an outlier and very, very few here will have any experience with teenage lactation. Yahoo Answers will most likely give you a real answer as there's a lot of mothers on there. Or see a school counselor. Unless you have a moralist counselor (which happens sometimes), the good ones are usually helpful, bound to keep it confidential, and will actually have knowledge and training on it.

I immediately thought Pathos' plan has come to fruition.

Let's see what she says before we jump to conclusions.

I don't think you get how bad womens' emancipation still is, even in the western world.

  • Yahoo Answers is a terrible place to get answers to anything, and is far worse than this forum in terms of trolling and general idiocy. It doesn't matter that few people here "have experience", she still managed to get decent advice about it.
  • I have to be blunt here. You're coming off as a real dick. If you're going to respond to a slightly unusual problem by saying "I don't believe you, because your kind is so strange here", then why the hell are you even bothering to post in Life Advice? And how the hell do you reconcile "benefit of the doubt" with "don't believe what people say"?

I think the only worse place you could direct someone is Answers.com. I came across this gem the other day.
