Five years have come and gone in Mountain-Banners.  Here's the savefile:
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=36
(note that saves for all other years are available at the same site)

And here's the map:
http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-2169-mountainbanners

What happened:
Apart from completing the topmost spire on the central tower, we spent our time on bridge work, paving all remaining holes in the road and the layer beneath it and walling both.  Residential balls house our dwarves, half the road is carpeted, and shiny new statues accent the whole.  The south tower is rising as we speak.

At this point, team #3 has a functional bridge.  Much work remains to do; whether our extremely ambitious goals can be fully achieved is a very open question.

Some statistics:
Total blocks placed thus far:  10,100
Total fortress worth:  3.85 million
Strange moods:  8, of which only the first two actually did anything for us.
population: 79 (capped at 70 for framerate reasons, but natural increase continues)

Lacero (aka Symmetry) has the game this year.

Letting a little quiet in this thread.  We of team #3 are working hard on planning the final two years, but what's the status of teams #1 and #2?  I haven't heard a peep from any of you slackers for weeks!    :)

Man, I can't wait to see a complete 3Dwarf representation of Mountain Banner, though I think the others have forgotten about this.

Wow; I hadn't seen this.

One project I've attempted a couple of times is basically what you're doing here, but across the ocean.  In wood.

Morally, the reason to cross the ocean is to link an island to the mainland.

Guys, it's obvious team #3 is the only one still working on this. I hope you dwarves take it to the 9th year. Many of us forumdwarves are still rooting for Mountainbanners!

Yeah, I put ours on hold since going solo isn't much of a team effort. Still have the save, though.

I think it's seven years, at least that's what we're planning for.  There might not be any graphics until the end now because it'll have more of an impact then.

If anyone wants to join the other teams though please ask them.  I think this is a really cool idea and it'd be a shame if the people who've put time in to their maps don't get to finish because others in their team drop out.

Fedor, I'm afraid my hands are tied until Valdemar posts his turn. Too bad, I really want to push this project to year 7. I can continue fortress #1 solo, if Valdemar doesn't post anything next week.

I've finished year 4 for team 1. Sorry for the delay.

We met our quota of 5000 blocks! (total) The third and fourth supports are done and the fifth one started.

Edit: Oops, I meant year 4

That's not bad at all! I like that it has many supports. A nice realistic touch.

If one of the teams is looking for another member I would be interested in joining ship...bridge...whatever.

this looks like it could be a lot of fun.  :D

EDIT: I've decided to reload from an early summer backup because of an error I made in designing a new tower. Year 5 might therefore take another week to finish.

Valdemar, if you want me to submit the year 6 savegame anyway, in spite of the error, I can do that. The result would be that we'd have to curve the bridge in order to keep it aesthetically pleasing.
