I certainly could, but I'm not too keen on the idea of a one person team. Do we have any other people interested in joining?

I'll play, although sinking supports into larva sounds challenging.

Probably not... I'm having enough of a challenge finding a worthwhile canyon that the game will actually allow me to embark in, adding lava to the search is simply not going to succeed.

Instead, we'll be using this.

I keep wanting to join this challenge, but my worry is that it's going to be hard for a thrown-together team to effectively work together on a complex project like this one.  My previous experiences in succession games is that each new leader generally starts new projects and that coordination is rare.

Thoughts on this?  Allow single-person teams?  Shift over to a community input game?  Ignore me?   ;)

Fedor, I know how it is. Hopefully, as team members become more familiar with each other, they'll become more attuned to each other's intentions and learn how to plan. You can play a single-person team if you want, and only allow people on your team if they prove willing to discuss their plans before comitting to them.

I'm more libertarian. I just go by the priciple of each person giving advice to the next. It's not going to make the perfect bridge, but hopefully, it'll be fun for everyone on my team.
Speaking of my team, how are you holding up, Gaulgath?

Was also pondering this... I think it would help to discuss plans for the next year.

I'd like to, but I'm not going to be able to... I have limited computer access for a while.

One year done. I've started on the low bridge and built another couple of supports. We're up to a population of 37. We've had one successful artifact (one unsuccessful), a table.

Good to see the quick reply!

That bridge is actually one level too low and would be disqualified, according to the original post. (My point of interest was at the right height.) The next guy could take it apart and rebuild, but that seems like such a waste... should we try doing the year over?

I think we should play with Invaders disabled - the challenge is to build a bridge city, not showcase every feature DF has to offer. Another smart move would be to eventually send builders to the eastern side of the canyon to simultaneously work on both ends.

Are you sure? The tunnels are for construction purposes, the top of the actual bridge is on the level above, I thought it would look nicer if it was made with walls rather than floors. Otherwise I'd just suggest building on top of it until it is up to the correct level.
