Tileset Troubles
« on: November 06, 2010, 01:34:23 pm »

Hey guys. I got annoyed with having everything that should be a square be a rectangle and decided to make myself a nice tileset. It doesn't seem to work properly.
Random blocks of colour have been left lying around, text that should have a black background does not and things seems to go pink for no reason. This was worse before I made the first tile plain black.
And so, I ask you, the DF modding community, to take a look at my tileset, perhaps test it out, and see what's wrong.
Damn, that's a lot of commas in a single sentence, even for me.

If you think it's an issue with my inits, please show me where I went wrong.
And before you say it, yes, I could go get another tileset from the wiki but that would be giving up. This thing's already taken about an hour of my time, I'm seeing the git through.

Can't you fill in pink for top left corner? Or there's reason you need it black? Nope I didn't try it.

When I leave it pink, I get more random colours.

I think i figured out.. somehow you saved color pink wrong or something... what I did to get it to work:

open your png, copy entire thing - open other working png (curses for example), paste over it, then resize attributes, save-as (mspaint does it fine).

That idea struck me as well, but that didn't seem to work.
Guess what did work?
Saving it as a bitmap. No idea why.

Some trouble with PNG layers. Fixed version (save as .bmp in paint):

This is exactly it: the png is not flattened. In Photoshop, you fix this by going up to Layer > Flatten Image. Zymedo has already done this for you in the linked image.

Alternatively, you can just erase the magenta and have a transparent background instead of flattening. This method allows for some fancier effects, although not really needed by a simple tileset like the one you've made.

On the item is an image of Ngom Fishsin the goblin and a alligator in mountain goat leather. The alligator is striking down Ngom Fishsin. The artwork relates to the killing of the goblin Ngom Fishsin by a alligator in Crueljoy in The Mechanical Spine in the late autumn of 11 during Kaguskok, "The Crazy Assault".
