I haven't read many but Seeking Truth is fantastic.

When you're finished with that, be aware that the saga of Zeke continues in The Mystic (check his profile for a link, or if you're lazy just go here).

Yea, the stuff doesn't scare you so much in the day, it's when you wake up in the middle of the night that it scares you.

I actually find a lot of it laughable.  I haven't watched any of the marble hornets or anything, just seen lots of pictures and read a bunch of the forum thread where the character originated.  Some of the pictures and aspects of the myth are really creepy.  The playground picture... that very first one... especially gets me.  But then the stuff where he's walking around in spider form or just standing there looking like he has an octopus coming out of his back... is just silly looking.  It's not creepy at all.  It loses that uncanny valley unsettlingness.  Completely inhuman eldritch abominations aren't very creepy.  A really tall, lanky guy with abnormally long arms and an unusual stance that nobody notices is there... that's creepy.

Indeed, and pretending it's filmed by a character's camera doesn't interfere too much.

Edit: Ever since watching MH, I turn my head to the left to see the hallway a lot more.

As Warhammer said, you should watch MH.  It emphasizes the parts you call creepy.

MH really isn't scary at all, the atmosphere just stays with you.

Agreed on all counts. Luckily my mind has segmented the Slender Man into 2 personas: the laughable tentacle-man who looks silly and Slender Man who can still creep you at at noon in a crowded building.

Marble hornets has a pretty good atmosphere, especially at the beginning. It gets a bit corny towards the end, but at least be sure to watch up to season 1's finale for what is probably the creepiest appearance of the Slender Man. Not sure what episode it is, but you will know it when you see it.  ;)
