That's right, folks! With Marble Hornets Season 2 looking like it's about to start up again soon, and Seeking Truth having gotten a few unexpected updates recently, I've decided to make a unified thread on the Slender Man Mythos.

Don't know what I'm talking about? Shame on you! There are so many horrible nightmares that you have missed!

It isn't safe to go without not knowing what the Slender Man is, take this!

Marble Hornets (A good place to begin your doom adventure!)
totheark (A Marble Hornets related item. Begin watching after Entry 9 of Marble Hornets for maximum doubleplusgoodness.)
The Marble Hornets Twitter Page (Yes, in character.)
Just Another Fool (Why look, a blog! Nothing suspicious here, no siree!)
Seeking Truth (This blog will not devour your soul. Just kidding, by the time you get to this link I know you won't be able to get away.)
The Mystic (Continutes from Seeking Truth)
EverymanHYBRID ( A Youtube channel dedicated to health and fitness. One of these things is in fact like all the others.)
WickedStickyAlex ( A EverymanHYBRID related item. This Youtube channel belongs to Jeff's little brother Alex.)
TribeTwelve (More video from which you may make mind-rending horrors. Gets better as it goes on.)
Dare 2 Die (That's right children, another blog! Unfinished for the time being, and somewhat bland, but you'll know when you reached the reason I decided to bring this one up. Or perhaps you won't.)

This thread exists for general discussion (Yes, shocking, I know.), speculation, and judging of various aspects of the Slender Man Mythos. Expect unhidden spoilers from this point onwards.

Might be worth linking to the EH twitter, that blog run by Jess' friend, and the Unfiction forums thread (which is where most of the ARG stuff happens - picking up and unboxing the packages, for instance). EH is by far the most ARG and interwoven series. Oh, and the SomethingAwful thread where it all started, too.

For beginners, start with Marble Hornets, then move onto EverymanHYBRID. TribeTwelve is alright, but it suffers from being a largely shameless MH clone to start with (although the latest few entries have started to hint Noah's found his feet and is becoming it's own thing). All (all the cool dudes, that is~) of us on IRC have watched them via Synchtube and it's been great fun. Would be happy to do it again with some forumites if you want a combination of absolute horror and snarky commentary.

After briefly checking out the source material (some of the pics in the original SA thread are awesome;  bricks were shat), I started watching Marble Hornets.  The storytelling is like a cross between this and the Blair Witch Project.  Also, the Twitter is helpful.  I would've overlooked totheark's responses without it.  Fun stuff.

Marble Hornets for me, occasionally everymanHYBRID (though the acting is quite unbelievable at times). I've tried the blogs, but they just don't do it for me. I guess it's that they just don't seem as real. *shrug*

I've been a Slendy fan for ages and would like to also link you to The Slender Nation, a Slendy forum.

I've only read a bit of Seeking Truth actually; just the first five-ish posts. I've been told it's good but I much prefer the video format, I dunno. Maybe I'll go back and do it some time.

I do like the anger-as-defense idea, though, and it'd make sense. We'll see. That might make Jeff somewhat protected as well, as he's got a lot of girlfriend-was-taken rage going on right now too. Evan, of course, is just... Evan.

I'm pretty sure this is a legitimate add-on to the EverymanHYBRID stuff considering how the same actor for Jeff is in both of them.

One should never underestimate the potential of people to turn ANYTHING into comedy.

I think I've figured out what needs to happen with Slender Man. A group project with Tribe Twelve's special effects, Marble Hornet's storytelling, and EverymanHYBRID's acting. It'll never happen, but it would be the best thing ever/kill everyone who watches it through critical heart failure.

Seeking Truth and Just Another Fool are my favorites, along with Marble Hornets. I watched all of Marble Hornets in one go.
Big mistake, I had trouble sleeping for a week.

It's very well done, but went for about a minute too long, and even though it's probably the best TribeTwelve vid so far, it just screams "THIS IS MY TOTHEARK PHASE OF MY RIPOFF HOMAGE TO MARBLE HORNETS". It's obvious he has the skills, and he's getting better and better, but I just wish he'd try doing something different.

Caught it earlier; going to have to go along with what Das said though:

Quote
<Dasleah> hey new TribeTwelve vid
<Dasleah> aaaaaand it looks like it's the totheark phase of his blatant MH ripoff phase
<Dasleah> nicely done though
<Dasleah> /really/ well done

It's definitely a very well done video (and I like the style of it a lot more than the original MH totheark style stuff as well), though I still don't feel that much that the significantly better effects of TT have caused it to really break away from MH yet. I continue to love that TT is using the "he's got tentacles, ohhhh tentacles~" part of the original Slendy mythos though.

New EverymanHYBRID

This isn't going to end well. I think it's pretty safe to say that the situation has gotten seriously FUBAR'd when Evan is the only HYBRID who's working towards their mutual survival anymore.

EDIT:

Three little pigs? Not the trusting sort? A Big Bad Wolf coming for them? Each possessing a house built of straw, sticks, or bricks?

Could...could this be about the EverymanHYBRID team?
