Bed-ridden miner won't release pick
« on: January 27, 2008, 02:18:00 am »

Okay, my miner was injured during a cave in, carried to bed, currently resting. I've disable mining. He won't drop his pick. This leaves me in a stitch, as I only have the one pick and I need it free so I can continue mining with someone else, but I can't kill off the dwarf as he is too valuable.

"Ye can have my pick, when ye pry it from my COLD, DEAD HANDS!"

So, another miner won't come by to take the pick, even though the current miner has mining disabled?  Have you tried drafting him and assigning a new weapon for him?  It might cause him to let go of the damn thing, even though he can't actually pick up any new equipment.

That's the only suggestion that comes to mind.

While this is annoying, I'm not sure if this is a 'bug' or not.   It certainly makes some logical sense.  But maybe there should be a command to make him drop the tool.

If you designate the pick to be dumped a dwarf will come by and pry it from his hands. Then just unforbid it when it has been dumped.
