I think you should still treat her well. She probably doesn't have too many years left, and the least you can do is make her last few years on this earth happy.

I'm raging about the fact that my sound doesnt work. Although I managed to vent by pulling the wires away so.. Annoyed.

You have reminded me of my lack of headphone support.
The other annoying part being: if you're lucky enough to get sound in headphones and built-in speakers, you can go into alsamixer and mute the speaker volume leaving the headphone sound in.
However, if you don't get anything into the headphones, you're kinda screwed.
I have the latter.
