I know back in the 40D days, both 3Dwarf and Visual Fortress were very popular. Of course, they broke with the 2010 update. I was looking at my fort today though and really wanted to run it in a visualizer, but I don't know of any that have been made... do they exist, or are we still lacking visualizers for the new DF versions?

Do you know Stonesense? Granted, it is isometric, but I think the end result is even better than the old 3d visualizers.

Try stonesense and look in the modding forum section if Isometric is not good enough.

I don't like stonesense because you can't see all of a really really big thing at once and the isometric can only show a few different angles.

Overseer is the closest thing we have to visual fortress, except it's even better because the colors are supported on more computers. It's still a work in progress, though, last I checked it didn't have water yet but that was being worked on.

Untill someone fixes DwarfVis, stonesense just doesn't do it for me.  The thing about DwarfVis is it really gave a feel for the Epicness of some of the buildings. Stonesense may someday advance the game to a better UI, but its like  playing an 16bit SNES Game.

What it comes down ot, is right now only Dwarf vis can give us something like this:
