Nonsense. There needs to be an offensive cheesemaker class.

I'm kind of with the wet blanket on this. D&D seems like it'd be a big stretch to do justice to DF. I enjoy a good game of D&D, but it just doesn't seem to fit DF well enough. Not without a lot of finagling, and by that point you might be just as well off writing your own system.

D&D is very simplistic
Uhh... what?

I know D&D has a ton of rules. I mean "simplistic" in the general way things are represented: You have levels, and hit points, and really basic weapon proficiencies instead of skills, and that sort of thing. It's gamey. Not that this is a bad thing, but it strikes me as the complete opposite of something like DF.

Could use FATAL instead. It has hit points for all attackable parts of the body.

Sure, but I'd have to burn you in effigy afterwards.

If you're looking for a hardcore, hit location based damage system for 5E here's somebody's homebrew

As for overly complex Dwarf Fortress style mechanics I made this, it might even be a bit too complicated to run at a table.

That's quite possibly the biggest (longest? lengthiest?) necro I've seen.

I've seen worse, but not often on this forum...

As for the classes, I'd make everyone be fighters exactly as listed. Dwarfs aren't stuck in a narrow path; you can give a hammerdwarf a spear and they'll do OK. Simulate that with feats like Weapon Focus and such.

Aside from Fighters, I don't think any classes are thematic to DF as it is. Play with Wizards and Clerics if you want to assume that lore-style magic is in effect, though.

Bleh.

When I do DF stuff in RPG games I just use GURPS, because as designed, GURPS is adaptable to damn near everything and in-depth too.

Okay sorry I'll leave now

I was going to mention GURPS, but I figured it was pretty low odds anyone had heard of it.

I would think most people who play RPGs have heard of it, but hardly anyone plays it.

I recommend it in general. Here's the rules:

- Average people have 10 in each stat (Strength, Health, Dexterity, and Intelligence).
- Roll three dice and try to roll under the relevant stat to succeed.
- Add to your stat if there's good conditions, subtract from your stat if there's bad conditions.

I mean there's some more rules if you really want to simulate things, but that's GURPS.
