I shunned books for a long time and tried just drawing all the time every day. I wasn't really getting better. I've finally given in and started doing some exercises from drawing books and finally I'm seeing an improvement. Sometimes all it takes is for someone who's good at it to give you a tip or two about what to look for, and suddenly something "clicks" in your brain and that one thing gets better. Certainly there's no improvement without the billions of sketchbook pages covered in crap, but following some exercises and suggestions in a how-to-draw book is really no different from getting critique from people here: it's just someone who knows what they're doing, giving you some tips to help you get better.

When coloring, use Gimp and find the color to alpha menu item.  Color white to alpha, set up a white layer behind the actual drawing, and color it in by hand either on the white layer or on a new layer in between the first two.  It takes a bit longer but you won't have any more little white spots.

I honestly don't know why I drew the feet that way. And another one is in the works, as I'm trapped in my house all day due to weather.

Proportion, learn it, or try out abstract.

For realistic drawing I'd suggest learning the

There might be some issues with these, as I ripped them from my sketch book. which is a hard back, and they make it hard to tear out.
Working on the drawing of this comic. afterwards you guys can suggest a name for the character, as it is no longer a self portrait. And actions, of course. I'll do polls for it and so on, as it's easier to draw with a prompt.

So the stairs are rather unimportant in that sketch as he just slipped over his two feet and was actually thrown back a little bit. (I can't do better)

Yup. I put the stairs there so everyone thinks "Oh shit, broken arm." nope. Just a faceplant on the top stair. And a new character is in the works. Not nameable, but someone who still holds importance. And you guys should critique these. With advice about things of course. Preferably in the same way soadreqm did, because that was pretty funny.

Could you maybe resize these a little bit? It's hard for me to see the whole thing at once on my monitor, they're so big.

Also the LARGEST stairs in history.

I mean he can easily lie down on each one vertically.

Draw some skeletons from an anatomy book.
if you want even harder practice, draw some skeletons from anatomy books in poses.

Cause that guy has the bones of a jellyfish!

Yeah, learn to resize, these massive images are clogging my tubes.

It's hard to critique someone who doesn't know basic perspective and anatomy, but here it goes.

Oh, also I ran out of room but his right arm is way too long, almost dragging on the ground if it was slack.

I don't draw pupils or ears because I'm trying to just get something on paper at this point. And the hole is the phone, if that wasn't clear.

Well there is such a thing as taking artistic license (or rather stylised art) though some aspects of drawing does not fall under it.

For example Hair and being Bow legged

Though I still can't do any better and I'll admit I can't do perspective much either.

One thing I've done that helps is to actually try to draw a rough sketch of your character as lightly as humanly possible. It helps a lot.

The problem with that is that scanners arn't nice to drawing (especially pencil ones with a ton of fine details like mine) and tend to pick up the superfluous and erase the nessisary.

Yeah. The hospital bed looks way better in the paper and the book then it does now. But, like I asid, someone name the main character. He'll need one soon. Update in a bit, trying to get some stuff right...
