The adventure-mode is unbalanced
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:06:40 pm »

I have four suggestions that could make the adventure mode more balanced:
- Decrease the numbers of bronze colossi.
- Make it possible to find Steel Weapons in adventure mode without having to produce them at a fortress. However they should be very rare.
- There are temples underground where you could find adamantine-weapons. But it's like searching for a needle in a haystack. Why not add parts of hard-obtainable treasure-maps or even rumors so you at least have some clue where to find them.
- MARKERS!!! When exploring a dungeon you should be able to make markers on the way so you won't get lost inside the endless mazes of natural cavern formations. I tried to drop items on the floor but they seem to disappear over time.

I have one final wish that I would like to separate from the others suggestions:
Please please please - make it so you could mine and build in adventure-mode. How fun wouldn't it be to have an own city with own villagers and an own army to invade others, or likewise - being invaded by 30 blood thirsty goblins! Wow, that would be cool. It's like bringing adventure and fortress mode together.

Umm for starts the amount of bronze colssi depends on world gen and the second point is that Toady is implementing the feature to own your own house soon :)

All those points will be added (except for less colossi) eventually. The real question is when. :p

You know it is crazy but shouldn't chosing not to fight an enemy because they could be waaay too powerful be a viable choice?

Sure, i rarely attack them until my skills and weapons are good enough. It's just that in my world gen's it has been to many bronze colossi. But it's just my opinion. It's a great game anyway.

1- can be done at world gen.
2 - mod a race that rarely uses steel
3 - probably gonna happen soon.
4 - your gonna have to deal with dropping a trail of vomit behind you. You really can't expect stuff to last long down there seeing how much living stuff is underground in DF.

If you want less colossi then you should just make the world gen longer. This should kill more mega beasts because they don't reproduce a lot. You could also make other creatures a bit stronger or the colosus a bit weaker. that way they will die more and you will therfore come across less of them.

Nonono. All you have to do is raise the "megabeasts dead for stoppage" number way up. That is what decides how many are left.

To me not every enemy needs to be capable of beating in adventure mode... though ones that are impossible should be more known as such.

[/sarcasm] Like every 6x6 embarktiles?[/sarcasm] Seriously handing out the "flaming infinity +1 sword of certain doom" just for the heck of it is dump. If you invest into some superawesome stuff its much fairer and rewarding.

"flaming infinity +1 sword of certain doom"
...
If all the text there besides "+1 sword" meant what would happen to you if you if you take the weapon, then that's a very accurate description.
