Sell the worthless gold shield, and buy torso armor+4 and a health potion. Put on the armor, and store the potion for a healthy swig at an unspecified date. Go back to the arena room, and wait in ambush for Cyan.

Purple I'd recommend going to the right, and rushing for the shop as soon as possible. At least that way I'll be there to tank for you.

Possibly, if you had a ranged weapon.
And he would have followed you if you somehow managed to steal something of his. He has NPC powers.

Sell worthless shield, buy armor+3 and bow+2. Go to the arena entrance, and lay in ambush for any Cyan colored traitors. If any Purple colored allies happen upon this place I'll protect them from any Cyan colored traitors.
