How unlucky am I

If the very first tile of the very first adamantine vein I ever mine immediately opens up to hollowed out fun? 

Cause that's exactly what happened, and I thought I would at least be able to get some nice adamantine stuff going before clowns came out and killed everyone.

I think you got screwed, but from what I've seen of veins with dfreveal mining it out is always a very risky thing.
