Well, I was going to say that she was a good pilot from years of playing space sims, but that seems to be taken.  How about an unorthodox idea of space combat.  She's an expert at processing sensor data and understanding ships heat outputs.  That means that if a ship is flying in a dense area of space (like an asteroid belt or a planet's rings) she is good at fighting a battle of stealth, sort of like submarine style combat.  Again, she would have learned this from a lifetime of video games.

General weapon use - can use some military grade weapons, and most civilian grade weapons, guns are preferred
Engineer - can build, or repair weapons if there are enough materials available
Hacker/Cracker - can hack/crack some computer programs and make them his own, can't do this with advanced programs

My character would be a mercenary, why wouldn't he know a bit of hacking? Besides, I made my hacking skills heavily nerf'd. If he does it the way I planned to have it, then I can open electronic locks, and turn off security cameras. That's only going to be useful for stealth operations.

@Mainiac: Asteroid belts are actually rather sparse... The chances of two asteroids being within even a couple million kilometres of each other is actually pretty low... But unorthodox space combat could be... entertaining... especially if the group got a ship with a railgun...

@Lillipad: If we need another player, you'll be the first person we ask. Right now we've got five people as it is, and I'm not very experienced at running games. And Mainiac's got a point. Too many hacker characters in a sci-fi rpg party is like too many spellcasters in a fantasy rpg party. It can go well sometimes, but most of the time it's going to end badly.

@WolfChild: Did you even read the backstory? The Katthara are transplanted humans who have been genetically engineered to have feline characteristics. I'm going by genetics and biochemistry here.
