Laziest War dogs ever

So I just embarked, and I had started digging the place i would spend the rest of the game at, then, without warrning, a wild animal stole something! No prob, It was just 6 and i have war dogs. I was sure it wouldn't happen again. Only it did. A lot. Can some one tell me how to get my wardogs to stop being pus*ys and KILL THE DAMNED ANIMALS!?!?

The war dogs have to see the critters to chase them.
