A squad named the standards of stabbing...

The stab is to be 10 centimeters deep. Deviations of +/- 2 centimeters are acceptable.

"You! Urist McNamer, what shall we call our fortress?"
"Cryptmachine!"
"And what shall our group be known as?"
"The Incinerated Tour!"

...seriously?

Instead I rerolled and founded Wetmetal by the ocean with the group "The Rampart of Sharks." Nothing can go wrong!  :D

You should have had that last group embark on a volcano.  If your dwarves were unforunate enough to get a tour of the obsidian generator while it was in operation, the name could have been literally true.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Just make sure the dwarf that is doing the measuring is disciplined enough to not run away from the corpses.

I have the The Vile Stench, a Goblin civ and a swamp called the Uncertain Mire.

Currently playing around with modding; among others, I made every civ playable.
* First test gen, I get a human civilization anemd "The Cheerful Realm of Beers". It was at peace with dwarves, for some reason I can't fathom </sarcasm>. Unfortunately, I had no idea at the time I also had to mod in the nobles for each civ, so the playthrough got really boring really fast.
* Another test gen, the goblin military squad is named "The Consensual Sins".
* World in course of generating - the largest continent in it is "The Continent of Problems". With increased savagery and beasts and decreased civs and sites... yeah, you are. (edit On the same note, the future genning's human monarch equivalent will be called hegemon. An entire human-owned chunk of continent is named the Plain of Hegemons, so the RNG has spoken!)

Urist Nutwhipped is my favorite dwarf name. I also got a really epic-sounding soldier with a ton of titles, "Kubuk Siegedcrystals the Rainy Guardian of Containers". What does it even mean? :o

Well, obviously he guards the booze!

My first fort in 40.0X, and the random names have not failed to amuse me.

My fort is called Ingishmistem, 'Bodiceportals', and the group is known as 'The Pale Gate'

Sounds rather scandalous, if you ask me.

Legends mode's The Age of The Vegetation sadly didn't turn out to be time when trees and grasses ruled the world. Just a tundra titan called Oslak the Saffron Vegetation of Dens.

A region called the Steppe of Violators.

Edit: A forest called the Noiseless Forests. We finally have an answer to that question.

Apparently an army known as "The Dread of Cremations" is headed my way. Time to get the magma organized.
