Had a talk with a lady consort. Upon bidding her farewell she offered me some sage advice.

Beware Kung Ongkosmgosmsex Emxa Äb (I can't fathom how to pronounce that second bit), "Kung Clamglands the Dung of Shafts."

...Eew. Also, it's a humanoid made of steam. I rather expected a blob of filth with poison gas and/or clam-spitting abilities.

"Hey Urist, there's a kind of clammy smell around here."
"Of course there is, it's a regularly used mine, with dozens of dwarves around the place. What do you expect?"
"I know that. It's more than usual. It's..oh no! OH NO! STOP!"

Some book titles of a law-giver clown in a world I generated...

The Birth Of Hell
Eternal Rest When It Counts
The Clear Demon And The Children
My Friend The Clear Demon
The Truth About The People
Slowly Nothing Laughs
The Humans And The Icy Discoveries
Suddenly It Weeps
The People: Before And After

I'm not sure whether to be amused or creeped out.

Creeped out, definitely.

Whatever 'it' is, it sure has a lot of stuff going on in its life.

Eternal Rest When It Counts - what's it counting?
Suddenly It Weeps - come, now, counting can't be that bad!

Hehehe.

Perhaps it's a thesis on when the best time to put its subjects to rest is.

The Truth About The People - sounds like a conspiracy theory. Definitely a vote for creepy there.
The People: Before And After - post-apoc fiction. Creepy.
The Birth Of Hell - metaphysics. Kill it.

Slowly Nothing Laughs.

Creeped out, definitely.
Urist told what would be received as the funniest joke of all time:
"Have you met the plump helmet man? He's a real fungi."

Nobody who heard it could laugh at anything else ever again. (Also, they were all really bad at jokes.)

The Stormy Green Portal, dorf civilization.

Yep, sounds totally not demonic.

God help us all, the dwarves has discovered Outlands.

Perhaps the worst one I've even seen had to have been an Elven civ called "The Sensual Pregnancy". I'm sure you can guess how many continents away I embarked.

My current civilization is 'The Comedic Toe-Basement'.  The goblin civilization is 'The Hell of Toes'.  This can't end well.  I saw an Elf civilization called 'The Adorable Cat', and a human civilization called 'The Troubled Confederacy'.  Jeez, humans, have some confidence in your political union.

My current fortress has a curious assortment of neighbors. On one hand, we don't have to worry too much about sieges from the Goblin civilization "The Flimsy Doom," but we do need to keep an eye on our shifty human neighbors when they come to trade. Perhaps it's wrong to be suspicious, but it's hard to trust them when their civilization is named the "The Empire of Pocketing."

Weapon names are... "creative" too. We have a named warhammer called "Pagedouse the Suicidal Cat," and more frustratingly, an artifact weapon "Ruindecline the Abyss of Chopping" which, of course, is a steel mace.

When I was reorganizing my inventory to fit all by books on life and death into various bags and things, I looked at my inventory and saw that I was multigrasping a necromancer slab.  It was pretty hilarious.
I think that would be an excellent way to impart the critical lessons of life and death to the ignorant masses.
