reclaim mode friendly ambushes
« on: May 31, 2008, 03:57:00 am »

I abandoned a fortress due to 3 out of 7 of my dwarves cleverly drowning themselves during the first spring thaw, but it was a good site so I immediately sent a party to reclaim it.

Now two of the old residents that happened to have hunting enabled keep interrupting everything with a huge "AMBUSHED" message. Usually they are over the other side of the map killing deer. Sometimes they are just wandering around. It is extremely frequent.

They are friendly, so there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it.

I think friendly creatures shouldn't stop gameplay when they ambush something already visible.

I had the same problem starting a fortress in a human settlement.  It got better once the NPC hunter ran out of bolts, and went away entirely when he got crippled.  An annoying but not fatal problem.

If it's really bad, try using tweak/heal to obliterate all of your hunter's organs. Then he will die, leaving you in peace.

Okay, I'll note it down.
