I had made a goblin* in my story the son of a troll breeder.
When I set a troll tobe tied up, he's the one who did it.

*It makes sense in context.

I like the little oddities that crop up in history. Once the fort liason was a *goblin*.

I also love it when the cravans and even enemies have items bearing images of my artifacts on them.

And fluffy wamblers!

Little things? For some reason, I "like bugbats for their swarming flight," so I'm basically obsessed with capturing a bunch, taming them, and breeding a MASSIVE ARMY OF BUGBATS SO BIG THAT THEY VAPORIZE EVERYTHING THAT COMES NEAR THE FORT.

Think about it! Imagine a 100 z-level tall above-ground castle cast entirely out of obsidian with a shit-ton of bugbats flying around. It would be just like Dracula's castle!

(I could just use eagles but nooooooooo it has to be bugbats! I don't know why either, I'm a strange dorf indeed.)
---

Also: Other little things... I like how just about anything is possible in DF. When I read about the fort that set up an artificial bay to harvest mer-people with the creative use of pumps and traps... I was just like, "Wow, holy crap this is cool!"

Bugbats are probably so appealing because even when DF will be fully unbugged, they will still be BUGbats.

I laughed when I saw one of my dwarves liked "lamprays for their beauty."  I also enjoy it whenever one of them animates their hands for whatever reason, or the one who "screams when surprised."

I like that my miner, who is frail, prone to sickness, completely lacking in a sense of humor, cries easily, gets winded often and is susceptible to disease, DOES HER JOB ANYWAY, even when PREGNANT.

"Fond of drink and industry" indeed.

Finding a civilization with an awesome name. Just listen to the ones from a newly genned world: The Tower of Genius, The Chamber of Fellowship, The Immortal Seals, The Mountain of Ravens, The Labyrintine Tomb, The Divine Metal...

My awesomely-skilled clothier made a vest, and adorned it with a picture of the artifact toga they made.
Vain much?! :D I'm gonna trade it. It's like an advertisement or something. :P

Fairy and unicorn blood, I don't know why but anytime I see either on the ground a laugh a little.

My favorite thing is the engravings. I recently executed a goblin general via spike pit impalement, and now I have about 20 engravings of a goblin being impaled.

Oh yeah! Engravings are awesome, both when they're of an event I fondly remember, or when they're of some historical event from before my fort started.
Also, I was trading recently, and the caravan, which had only visited my fort once before, was selling tonnes of items bearing engravings of my artifact, 'Craftsystems' the red rope reed toga. I was delighted. :D

I like it when I find out that all the cheap cages I just bought are full of turtles.

When an undetected goblin thief steps into a weapon trap and bits fly off.

When a hunter makes a succesful kill.

When I finally manage to bring magma up 150 z-levels and watch as it flows into a pre-designed channel or trap.

In short, when things go...
