Chetchula has arived beware of it's lag powers
« on: October 30, 2010, 12:31:53 am »

In my currend game I had acces to the caverns. Having a reasonable sized fortress (70 dwarfs ) and a good fps (75-80) thing were doing well. Until a fb arrived named chetchula. My fps quickly dropped to about 2. He is currently sitting inside the water in the caverns and since I rely on traps for my defense I can't kill it there. Does anybody know why my fps dropped so strongly the moment chetchula arived or what I can do against it?

Does it have deadly dust, or something of that sort?

Give cats natural metallic armor and throw them in your danger room.  Also allow their mouth and tail to grasp (shield in mouth, weapon in tail xD)  Have a cat based military.  You know, do the same with all tame animals xD send in the cats as shock troops to disrupt the archers

I heard the only way to fix the problem is to cave it, and everything it has touched, in.

Well if you want to increase your FPS, you could use the DFhack bin's cleaner, that cleans all the poisonous things and all the blood off your map.

It has a poisenous breath but does that kill your fps in a matter of seconds I could see my fps drop to 2 in less then 5 seconds and it wasn't in the water at that moment.

Isn't it about time that we plead to Toady to fix this?

Engraved on the monitor is an exceptionally designed image of FPS in Dwarf Fortress and it's multicore support by Toady. Toady is raising the multicore. The artwork relates to the masterful multicore support by Toady for the Dwarf Fortress in midwinter of 2010. Toady is surrounded by dwarves. The dwarves are rejoicing.

That's weird, 2 of the 3 forgotten beasts I've had in my fort did nothing but sit in the pool by my fortress too. Don't think they've been hurting my FPS unusually much, though.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

It's able to swim and regulary surfaces in order to breath.
