Need help with unofficial mac Mayday 31.16 (Picture included)

I'm pretty new to all this. Downloaded an unofficial 31.16 mayday file and installed it manually. It doesn't seem to be working perfectly for the characters though. Animals are letters and the dwarves are a weird rainbow of silhouettes. Plus the trees suck and are not what I know Mayday is supposed to look like.

Same here. I have a custom civ with drawn sprites and the creature_example rigged with the same format as the rest of them but their sprites are a no show.

Everything else looks to be there... but the cats and dogs might not be.
