Dogs stuck in pit
« on: January 24, 2008, 03:45:00 am »

So I was tired of my dogs following people around, gathering in high-traffic areas, and generally being underfoot, so I dug a pit, made a ramp, put a door in (set to No Pets), and threw 'em all down there. Unfortunately, now, when I order a dog to be trained, my trainer simply sits in the kennels and refuses to actually fetch a dog to be trained. Are the dogs supposed to meet them at the kennels? If so that would explain it, since my dogs (by design) can't let themselves out of the pit (otherwise the pit does nothing).

That is correct. The trainer probably blows an invisible whistle, and the unhearable sound reaches just the right dogs ears, and it comes.
So it's not like mules and horses and other critters, who have to be hauled to the destination.

My stray dogs often chase fire imps back into the magma pipe and then continue fighting while burning and drowning in the lava. Truly their loyalty knows no bounds, but perhaps it should.

Yeah, I use cages and let my dogs out one or two at a time.

Ya, a built cage is pretty much perfect for what you are trying to do with the pit/ramp/door thing.  Build one and play around with the dialogs in it.
