In the past I've always made crafts out of lead for trading. I end up minting coins out of the leftover silver.

Mod dwarves to be able to make lead masks. Then sell them to elves.

Lead barrels.  Store all your booze in them.  Then at least your dwarves will have an excuse for acting like brain-damaged lunatics.

I use lead to make anything I need a lot of.  Bins, barrels, whatever.  It's cheap and abundant.

Exactly what I'm doing. If anything, they start acting saner now...

I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

You shouldn't make anything you want to lug about out of lead, as it's quite heavy.  You may as well use it to make lay pewter.  Or construct a bunker out of it for your survival team to live in should you decide to unleash Fun upon the world.  Not that it's any more effective as a bunker material than, say, feather wood, but it's the thought that counts.

I've always just assumed that dwarves are immune to inorganic poisons whether it be heavy metal poisoning, mild radiation poisoning [pitchblende can't be THAT bad in its unrefined state, right?], or coal lung.  Organic poisons however.... entirely different story apparently.

Just the wine so the acidity will leech the lead out into the liquid.

[edit] Forgot the whole point of the thread--once steel/candy are available for weps and armor, that pretty much makes all other metals and alloys only as good as their base value, right? Keeping in mind melting points and magma, of course..
