As much as i hate browser based games this one got my attention. (Mainly because its the first game of this kind that seems to be based on the "Loosing is fun" philosophy.)
English version Is in the making, but the french version of that game called Hordes became quite famous in France.
From the gibberish the translator throwed at me:
You start as a citizen of a small desert village with around 40 other people. The playing field is 13x13 squares with the village in the centre. Your task is to survive for as long as you can.
You can scavenge, share (or steel) supplies, help making fortifications and other buildings... The review claims that is possible to play solo, but its much safer for instance plan your scavenging trips with other people.
The great aspect should be that your village gets its own forum on which you can try to establish some kind of government and make politics and shit but you can actually hang a problematic citizen.
The fun part imo is that the attack on your village are getting stronger and you have to hold on for as long as you can.

Is it french only or what? Also you each play a character of the 40 in the village?
Sounds pretty sweet though.

The French were adept of the "Losing is Fun" philosophy long before Dwarf Fortress.

Nope. I can learn to speak it maybe, but for classes I'd have to spell it.

Something I only learned for English through massive effort.

Last screenshot says that a water gun is effective against zombies (lol?) so there are at least zombies in the game. Other screenshots detail how the night is very creepy and all, so it fits the tone. Might be other monsters out there as well though.

Edit: My French is better then I thought. French review claims it takes influences from amongst others Fallout, Resident evil, 28 days later, the Call of Cthulu PnP game and Mad Max 2. World's post apocalyptic and populated by hordes of undead... things. Players are located in small villages enveloped by a dessert only know as the Outside World. (one of the screenshots details an area littered by craters that the players have just explored). While fortifying the village and fending off the regular undead attacks is part of the game, you'll quickly run out of vital resources if you don't go exploring in the outside world. While you'll eventually be overrun the point of the game is to survive as long as possible. The last survivor of a village gets the title of hero for a certain amount of time, which gives you some bonuses for your coming adventures. The status of hero can also be bought for real money (that's where they presumably get the cash to keep things running). (I'll stop here because the rest is getting too garbled for me to grasp)

This game looks pretty awesome, although I'm wondering about the combat and stuff.  Also, can you reach other villages?
