Old Game:Dungeon Keeper 2
« on: October 28, 2010, 09:23:04 pm »

I just manage to get my hands on this game for the first time ever. Before anyone shows shock at someone not haveing this awesome game, I was seven when it came out and my older brother is an idiot who wouldn't have wanted the game. Thus far, I'm absolutely loveing this game, it lives up to everything I've heard about it so far. I'm only roughly half-way done with the campain at the moment, but so far my favorate minions have to be Skeletons, just becouse they lack fear, no wages, and I can make them pretty much enmass with a large prison.

The problem with skeletons is that they cannot be "unconscious", so they instantly die, losing levels. Plus they are impossible to train at arenas.

I once bought it from KMart when I found it for 9 bucks a few years ago, was greatly disappointed that no matter what computer I tried to install it on (mine which was mediocore at the time, nextdoor neighbours who's mum and dad kept buying him upgrades due to the being sepearated (you know those kinda kids.) and even my mum's laptop which was inbetween the two and I wasn't spos to touch cause it was full of her work...

It never worked...
It wouldn't install and when it did it wouldn't load, nothing... Took it back and got a refund, haven't thought to download it though...

Fresh out of the box and I needed to patch it straight away...??? That seems a bit wrong...

That is odd. I honestly have no Idea what the problem was. My own copy had a similer problem, but it was fixed when I set it up so my computer ran like an older version of windows when I played the game.
Side Note:I just got the boulder traps and have a choice of 3 semi-different levels, which one should a first time player do?

The first Dungeon Keeper was better... But really, it doesn't matter which level gets chosen at the selection branch; they all lead to the same missions later on. There's usually an "easy" route or a "difficult" route, which eventually becomes obvious as you play.

The first DK was nice, but it got really annoying around the middle of the game. The second one had a lot of stupid things, but it was overall a lot of fun. Still one of my favorite games out there.

Yea, sadly, DK2 doesn't work well on newer OS.  heck of a time making it work on XP.  Havn't bothered to do so for 7 yet.  Can't even remember what I did, for XP.  Got Virtual Machine set-up.

They can be trained, same with weak vampires, but it requires that you babysit them and make sure they don't die.

It really depends on the situation but yeah your mostly right. Though you can always use Healing spells to keep the skeletons healthy too.

Though it is probably better to use Arch-angels if you want a lot of high level skeletons.

1) Download and install the latest patch.
2) Play.

Is it really that hard? I mean, come on... It took 15 min to install and patch it on my Windows 7 laptop.

As a suggestion the cannon traps are good until you start fighting high level enemies. In fact I THINK level 10 enemies are programmed to be immune to the cannon traps.
