Bloodlines Champions Closed Beta key up for grabs
« on: October 28, 2010, 07:46:53 pm »

Funcom keeps spamming me with some weird shit because I think I used to play Anarchy Online back in the days when a computer looked like this.

Now they sent me a closed beta key for some game called "Bloodline Champions".

At first I was interested but then I read this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I was suprised to see how much stupid can be put into one paragraph without making it explode, and so I promptly decided to give away that closed beta key.

First guy to post "Papa needs a brand new bag" gets the mail forwarded (as PM).
edit: if for whatever reason, be it gender or general crossdressiness or whatnot, "Mama needs a brand new bag" makes you feel better, thats alright, too.

Funcom! You jerks. I used to play Anarchy Online too. Good times they were.

If you aren't going to use it, I'd at least be willing to try it out.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

I guess DoTA clones are all the rage among online game developers these days.

1-League of Legends
2- Heroes of Newerth
3-Demigod
4-Bloodline Champions

Blizzard even announced they're making an oficial DoTA game.

Wait. It's a DoTA clone?

Uh-oh.

As far as I know at least. The footage and its description as "an arena PVP game" and the champion/heroes/avatar player characters seem to indicate that. It doesn't blatantly copy DoTA like heroes or LoL though, or so it seems. LoL and heroes are excused because they're fun to play, demigod is boring as hell.

There's also an eastern arena PVP game that disguises it as a 3rd person shooter, but its the same thing except you control your character with the keyboard and need to aim to attack.

Not really DoTA. Still, I don't know how long this thing has been in closed beta, but there are already people who rape me in 10 seconds. *sigh*

Game doesn't seem to bad, though doesn't look to have much lasting value.

Your wrong about blizzard... Valve hired Ice-frog, developer of DOTA, and Valve is making DOTA 2... heard all of this from Valve's blog post and Rock, Paper, Shotgun blogs.

Also I don't like this very much, nothing you get as a reward when you win the game. Although this game has more action to it cause of the how thing's are quite speedy, and no NPC minion's like the rest of the game. Sadly, I don't really like it cause of that, and I don't think you earn items... it's like select a character and combat, fuck the items and npc's... it's like an FPS online game minus the FPS.

Wait, thats right, blizzard didn't take the initiative.
If valve is making it then it might be worth a look. Anyway, wat, no reward for playing? You sure it isn't just the closed beta?

I'm not playing a clickfest that lacks any rewarding elements other then a U R TEH WINNAR screen.

Blizzard did make a DOTA game, though it's just an official map for SC2. I think they kinda did it as a "screw you" to Valve, beacuse it was after they made a few comments about Valve trademarking the name.

So, uh, this isn't DotA at all. Except I guess it's in 3rd person and the hero/Bloodline guy you control has special abilities you use. Other than that it just looks like an arena/cage match of up to 5v5. No minions, no towers, no bases, no items, no gaining levels. As far as I can tell anyway. I don't think heroes even have mana, everything's cooldown and skillshot/aiming driven. The rounds are meant to be short, from the looks of it, more like a typical FPS style of gameplay in that regard. It seems pretty neat, but there isn't enough to it for me, personally. I could see a different kind of person being hooked though. I have a key as well if anyone wants to give it a go. Apparently you get two additional keys once you set up the account with it. Just PM me and I'll email/PM you back.

Edit: Oh apparently I missed that there are two other game modes, a capture the flag type one and a king of the hill/domination one. Here's the website link so you don't have to google: http://www.bloodlinechampions.com/ The "The Game" section has good info and a little intro video that's pretty much all you'd need to get started from the looks of it.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

If anyone else wants a key, here's the one I received for apparently no reason.

I see no point in PMing it because I don't care about it. First come, first serve.
