Some people get much worse hangovers off of cheap booze. It depends how they make it and what they put into it. Some poor people cannot drink real ale. Either the yeast or the gluten plays havock with their stomachs. Not that I did when I was younger, but I would avoid really cheap spirits. They're not going to be good for you. I had to raise my eyebrows when I saw 'hard liquor' mentioned in the same sentence as 'Baileys'

Most countries have a minimum age to buy booze, not a minimum age to drink it.

A nice sipping glass is a fine thing to be sure. My father has a miniature whiskey and bourbon collection featuring all of Kentucky's finest locked in a cabinet in the laundry room. Sadly they figured out I've known where the key was for the last five years and have been sneaking sips of everything from Knob Creek to Old Grand Dad and Crown. Some of that stuff was fantastic on its own, but if you intend to mix it with anything it just seems a waste.

Had a Black Toad earlier. That's quite possibly the best beer I've ever had, beating out Blue Moon and Guinness.

I'm rather fond of a nice scotch. I don't try to get drunk anymore since I discovered an amazing ease in drinking people under the table (a level of tolerance that worries me) though.

Just had a stockyard oatmeal stout. It was good, sort of a more-alcoholic Guinness, without the metallic taste and a little of the bitterness. Made by the same brewery that makes Black Toad, too, though that's still better.

I certainly do.

Yesterday actually, I was reaching into my fridge, in what I thought was a case of coke's, turned out to be Budweisers. Didn't realize it until I was already back at my desk. Had popped the tab, and taken a drink.

My first thought:
"God damn yes!"

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

I had the recommended Killian's Irish Red, which has moved to the top of my favorite beer list.

Don't drink Four Locos (the name), a couple of friends who don't drink responsibly got stupid drunk from it very quickly, and both ended up passing out and waking themselves up by vomiting all over themselves. Jack Daniels and the Irish Red didn't produce any hangover, though it could be because I sobered up before I slept.

Or you could just be somewhat resistant to hangovers, like... what is it? Something like a third of the population is either immune or highly resistant to hangovers, if I recall right? Personally, I've only ever gotten a (very mild, at that) hangover from drinking a bottle of champagne on new years, and drinking enough vodka to collapse on the floor vomiting and hallucinating. Both of which went away completely with a glass of water and a dose of aspirin.

If four loco is anything like sparx (or whatever the fuck it's called), it's also repulsive. I think the notoriety alcoholic energy drinks get comes mostly from them being unfamiliar to most people, who grew up with traditional beers, wines, and liquors, and from them being most exclusively popular with the same people who are going to drink themselves half to death no matter they're drinking, and so gain a reputation as dangerous (which only heightens their appeal among those same people who are, as mentioned, going to give themselves alcohol poisoning no matter what they choose to drink, forming a horrendous circle of moral panic and shitty journalism).

GIN. Some of it is nasty, but good gin is like junipers making love in your mouth. No tonic, maybe a lime, but definitely chilled.

Dry white wine is also good, and sometimes I'll have vodka. But mostly gin.

Not really a big beer drinker, the bubbliness doesn't feel right with the flavor. Beer I'll drink are Guinness, Sapporo, and the various Sam Adams incarnations, and Killians. Haven't had that much different beer, though - given a choice between decent beer and well gin, I'll usually take the gin.

In terms of shooters / mixed drinks, Snakebites are good - Yukon Jack and lime juice. Also, Kahlua and coffee are a great mix for late-night coding, if you watch how much alcohol you've had.

Tequila is okay, whisky/whiskey and bourbon are acquired tastes I haven't acquired. Not a big fan of rum.

Mostly a real ale drinker. I fully intend to join CAMRA when I have the money. I'm also a big fan of all them fancy continental beers - Belgian ones and the like. Not to say I'm not partial to other world beers, but they're harder to find.

I also appreciate a good whiskey, preferably a really smoky scotch, and I like good rum too - Wood's 100 for preference. I also drink wine in pretty much any guise, although not that often. Don't normally suffer from hangovers unless I drink a lot of wine/spirits.

Mosty Dutch and Belgian beers, vodka if I got nothing else to do that day.

The more expensive wines and whiskeys can be realy good, but ultimately not realy worth the money. The cheaper ones kinda taste like mediocre.

Not much of a fan of bigger brands like bacardi and heineken, they seem to favour a wider area of appeal which results in a rather bland flavour.

Also I dont know why but I never seem to get any severe hangovers.
