In the 2009 Kentucky ice storm, my parents thought I was completely insane to have my pregnant wife at home with me when we had no power for a week, but our hot water heater was gas and my neighbors stove was gas so we just lit candles, drank instant coffee and I brought home hot food from the church. No car, no heat, no power, no telephone, no internet, no television, no microwave, no coffee maker, no problem. It was actually really fun.

This, basically. I get quite a lot out of the internet.

Aside of course the basics like food and water and lodging, I require three things: My computer, my PS3, and the internet. This constitutes what I do 99% of the time when not sleeping.
