I suggest that before you post suggestions like this, you actually go and learn what an aquifer is.

I'm sure we've had this suggestion before...

..ah, yes.

Edit: Privately, even if it isn't physically tenable, it certainly sounds dwarfy!

MAGMA DOES NOT WOR--

Wait, what's this?

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/09/100923-science-early-earth-core-magma-liquid-molten-layer/

...it does happen, occasionally.  But, uh, look at the depth.  Truthfully the ease with which you reach magma in DF right now is a bit of a handwave to keep things interesting -- although the, ah, clown-related metaphysical differences in DF might also explain the relatively high-up magma.

Babby rock.

Though, I think while this feature may well be silly, it would prove quite !!FUN!!.
Especially since you could punch through a magmafer quite quickly if there's a river around.
...Not to mention the cutdown pumpstacks.

However, this most certainly shouldn't be enabled by default. Perhaps a RAW value, for cheating? Tee hee!

Perhaps a RAW value for FUN, make Magmafers be the only magma that has Flow. Flood your fortress with Magma from the get go!. Make your map as big as possible to the whole thing floods!. Then send your adventurer in to play in the magma >:D

Why? Oh why? I have a hard enough time keeping my hallways the natural stone-colour as it is! Although it would explain where all these "X blood barrel"s are coming from.

I don't know. Maybe I find the idea of the stone walls bleeding somewhat ... creepy and fascinating at the same time. In any case, it fits pretty nicely for Halloween. :)
