In the light of the definition provided at the top of this post, their program seems pretty socialistic to me.

The socialist items of this list is nothing more then a list of things they claimed to support but never pursued.  They kept the industry in private hands.  They didn't make citizens equal before the law.  They sure as hell didn't divide the profits from industry or the warehouses equally among all parties.

NEWSFLASH: THE NAZI'S LIED
Yes. And Soviets lied when they took up the communist ideology - the real communism would create an utopia on Earth. And USA lied when they brandished their capitalism, the true capitalism would create an utopia as well, and so on.
It's not as much about outward lying because WERE EVUL, rather than about the power and the powerful corrupting whatever ideals the politicians might've had, which is true for each and every place and time there ever was.

And no, realising that the Nazi party was a socialist one does not discredit socialism as an ideology. Anybody who's using that argument is doing the same old reductio ad Hitlerum routine, which we've all learned to berate or ignore.

If the Nazi's are socialist, then the Tea Party is socialist.  The Tea party has a lot more extreme socialist positions (Nobody can touch Social Security, ever!) then the Nazi's ever did.

Yes, but would a Tea Party general fast just because his soldiers are low on food? That's a litmus test for socialism if there ever was one, and you'd be surprised how many great generals were actually commies in disguise, millennia before Marx.

Being socialist does not a communist make?

Also, this is kinda offtopic… but why is everybody typing Nazi's with an apostrophe?

Clearly apostrophe's are used to pluralize noun's in the English language.  This is especially true of acronym's and number's.

Don't generalize. The apostrophe should be reserved for the possesive clause.

Clearly apostrophe's are used to pluralize noun's in the English language.  This is especially true of acronym's and number's.
I'm pretty sure this is not what I was taught in my English classes.

Again, solidarity with a unit is not socialism.  Someone who'd fast in order to help their children isn't necessarily a socialist.

And I think it's beause "Nazis" looks a bit weird.  Since it's an acronym, it should really be NAZIs, but eh.

I think that technically, it is not an acronym, but I might also be wrong.

Uh, yeah, oops.  The initials are NSDAP, and Nazi is from the first two syllables.

Oh well.

DJ, if you're accusing me of being a closet nazi in sincerity, kindly reaffirm your claim. Otherwise, I demand an apology.

Wait, this is a serious thread? I kinda got lost on the part where a general's solidarity with his troops makes him a socialist rather than a commander who understands morale.

Yes, and I got a warning for that little jest. So I'm sure DJ is happy to explain the joke since I'm giving him the chance.
