How to get rid of stones outside.

Hi. I have few rocks outside, a leftover of some channeling. I know that dwarves won't clean anything that's not underground, now it seems that they won't dump rocks either.

Any suggestion to get rid of them? I used the most to build the monumental entrance, but there are a few cobaltite boulders that I don't want to use; a bright blue watchtower isn't really menacing.

If you want to dump items that are outdoors, you need to enable collection of outdoor refuse by pressing (o)-(r)-(o).

If you've done this and the rocks still aren't being collected, make sure they haven't been tasked for some other construction. If you don't have any pending constructions and you've reclaimed your fortress at least once, they may have been tasked prior to the reclaim and you'll need a special tool to free them up (there's one I wrote that comes with dfhack, but it doesn't work with the current version).

If you need to dump something that's outside, your dwarves will not do it unless you tell them to collect refuse that is outside.

Do this by pressing "o" and then pressing "r" and lastly pressing "o" again. It should say "Dwarves gather Refuse from Outside."

That should work.
