Well, we must have eaten some mushrooms since we still have hardtack. How about we've eaten about half the mushrooms and beer?

As for the potential over-abundance of Plump Helmet Spores, how about the mushrooms we got from the depot were old and dry, making their spores dead?

Anyway, here's the total count of, er, everything. Note that items in constructions (stones and toolsets in a workshop) are noted in the Fortress panel, not Supplies.

En-route, we consumed...

Leaving, at the beginning of the first day...

210 Drinks of Beer

And now minus 21 Hardtack and Rum per day, unless otherwise specified.

Day 1: 41 food and 19 drink.
Day 2: 40 food and 18 drink.

Done and done for the spores, maybe I will roll something and see if there was anything from them later...

I think that there was a third person who got a puppy and/or kitten, but I don't know who...

And just to be certain, are we using Crafting/Smithing/Carpentry toolsets, or one generic type?

Hmmm...
You remember that Hunger Line I showed???

Basicly depending on what you ate it will increase and refill. It falls at a good rate, which I can't remember right now, and when food is eaten it refills. Shit just noticed how I fucked up big time with it, you shouldn't be compleatly full and thirsty when you wake up, cause thats what breakfast is for (to break the nights fast). Basicly it will fall at around 3 points for every 8 hours, meaning that after breakfast at 6 am, you eat again at 12 then again at 6 for example the bar falls 1.5 bars between each meal (the tide ~ is half a bar) then during the whole night you loss 4.5 Bars...
Hardtack recovers 1.5 bars easily, but being forced to eat it constantly will take its toll...
Berries would recover .5 a bar or maybe even less, meaning you need to eat more to just recover a bar... I haven't fully decided yet...

Toolsets are generic, they are required in construction OF the specialized Workshops that are listed, and also provide a modifier when used in tandem with a workshop if carried...

Why not just simplify it, and have each unit of food be enough for one dwarf for one day? It makes more sense to me to have a unit of food be based on how filling it is.

3 hours survival: Push for people to eat fisher berries, and save the seeds. If seeds aren't easy/possible to save, guard my berries from hungry dwarves.
1 hour conversing with/helping Shade: Discuss our plans, note the relative locations of and which plants I've found on the surface, and help with flora identification.
8 hours revival
12 hours work: Take a shovel and prepare lands just down the slope to the east for planting. The fields should be close to the river, but not close enough that I'd be at any risk of falling in, or getting jumped by a doomfish.

Lor is a dwarf who Loves mechanics and weapon traps. He also had a decent amount of time in the guard, But was not his preferred calling.

This is Dwarf Fortress! If we can chuck magma at innocent wildlife, we can do ANYTHING!

It was at this point that I realised that dwarves are actually the essence of chaos. What else can make perpetual motion machines, recursive statues with more building materials than the average tower and has such a short attention span that a damn fine chair can off-set the death of their entire family.

But if I simplify it, then I won't be able to use that cool Hunger Thirst thing... But yeah thats originally what I was going to do, but too many whispers in my ears confused me and I ended up using the wrong system, I never am confident in things I do, and am easily swayed into other things if I am not careful...

Also, slight change of plans to the digging pattern. It'll still be mostly open, but you'll come in a tile away from the waterfall.

Not much of an artist, but here we are. Main ramp still open to the cliff face, main tunnel still runs under the river, but it goes in earlier so you enter a tile away from the edge. And if we don't like it, we can just knock out the pillar when we're expanding the ramp anyway.
