Problem in the language information?
Try deleting and re-downloading it.

I've had the same problem with every version after 31.16 on Vista 64bit. Try downgrading to 31.12 - that was the last stable version for me. 0 crashes with 31.12 and random crashes from 31.13 onward.

Okay, ive tested vanilla dwarf fortress and I was able to play and scroll through the civilizations/his. figs. in legends (I was crashing from there)...also, I was also able to name my fortress (crashed from there also)

There could be a problem with the graphic mod, not the game itself then.

ill downgrade later if im not able to fix the crashes

Incidentaly what graphics pack?

Im on win 7 64-bit and ever since .16 i've started crashing.  Been using the 'unofficial' mayday tileset and getting unhandled win32 errors

Switched to phoebus with .16 and all good so far

I wish I had something cool to say about this.  Because it's really cool.

I play DF on a Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. I only play Vanilla DF, but I haven't had a crash with it whatsoever.

Try installing DF clean and vanilla, and running that installation on your Vista box. I suspect it will run with no issues, and what you are experiencing is an issue with the graphics package you are using.

What is this, a therapy session? We don't need to console someone because they're upset about a fucking video game. Grow a beard, son, and take off those elf ears!
