Dropping things 20+ Z-levels
« on: October 24, 2010, 12:57:06 pm »

As a little project, I'm creating a shrine to Armok -- a simple affair, just dropping the offerings down a 20+ z-level hole in the middle of a tower. As the first offering, I have this cage full of cats. Do I have to let the cats out before dropping them will do anything but move the cage to the bottom of the tower, or will the cage and contents explode when it hits the ground?

Objects (including cages) are completely unharmed by falls, and creatures inside cages are effectively in a pocket universe.  So if you drop the cage, the cage and the cats will be undamaged.  Let the cats out of the cage before dropping them.

Ahhh, so it's the same thing as if I wanted to drown the little buggers. Thanks!
