Stranded Injured Dorfs
« on: October 24, 2010, 02:52:35 am »

I have three dwarfs in various locations that are injured and can't get up of their own accord.

The problem seems to be that they are inside... Nobody will take them to the hospital.

One has a fractured skull, he's been in my dining room for 5 years now. Just laying there unconscious, being fed and watered like a potted plant. Nobody takes him to the hospital, and he's yet to have been diagnosed even. To be honest, I don't een know what happened to him, my guess is that someone tantrumed and threw a table at him.

Another is in my booze stockpile. Captain of the guard beat the living hell out of him when I deconstructed his chains so he didn't starve to death, which is ironic, I suppose.

Third got hit in the head by a rock in my meta-stockpile.

How do I move them? What can I do with them? Are they my new dwarven decorations?

Flood the fort so they get moved outside by the current.

While that's a great idea, this may be a little easier: define a zone near them, make it a meeting zone, and idle dwarves will hang out there - they should notice your wounded guys then.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

What's a meta stockpile? O_o

Edit: Right, metal. Figured that out as I clicked post. Was hoping for some sort of stockpile of a stockpile.

Sure do it the easy way or the safe way. You call yourselves dwarfs.

They HAVE noticed them...  :-\ They keep feeding them, they just don't seem to want to move them. In fact, the oldest one is directly in the middle of my dining room.

I doubt the nomenclature is fitting, but for me, it is just an everything-stockpile where I was dumping things down a shaft that happened to be cluttering my rooms. That way there's no space cap for how many things can fit on a single tile, and it makes things more presentable. Unfortunately just as someone was dumping obsidian, this guy happened to be grabbing a sock or something.

I'll give that a shot.

Oh, that's different - it sounds like you don't have a bed free / hospital defined, but you said you do.  Perhaps it's fruity hospital system behavior, that would be a huge surprise.

An *everything* stockpile? Wow. It's like a DF shonky shop. I like having really specific stockpiles. I recently decided having a dedicated clothing stockpile wasn't specific enough, and now I have a room filled with nothing but socks.

You didn't turn off Recover Wounded for the labor screen for a whole bunch of dwarves somehow, did you?

Otherwise, it's hard to say what might be happening. When you go to Zone (I) and Hospital Information (H), beds are listed as being within the zone, correct? If not, you might have left them out somehow while setting up the Hospital Zone. You could always try cancelling the current Hospital Zone and redesignating it to make sure that there are beds within it.

No, in fact, I turned on recover wounded for a bunch MORE dwarfs to see if I could get them to do it (I had it disabled for some so they would work).

I have dwarfs in the hospital already, and I have free beds amidst and amongst the ones currently in use. I could try re-zoning the hospital, maybe it would work.

Hahaha, maybe thought he was just a lumpy ground with plants & mushrooms growing on him.

Think about it, with all the dirt & filth on his body that has accumulated over the years, they wouldn't even notice the dorf under that...the others thought they were taking care of the dining room plants.
