What's your Grudge record?
« on: October 23, 2010, 11:10:20 pm »

I personally have a dwarf who has no less than FIVE grudges. He was Very Unhappy by the time I finally noticed, and I only noticed because a scrub migrant Engraver got a mood (he is no longer a scrub).

What's your record for grudges?

My expedition leader in one ill-fated succession game had a grudge within the first half-hour of play.

He went stark raving mad before summer.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

I was doing some testing a while back and shortly after I embarked I noticed my woodcutter started with three grudges.

The ride to the site must have been amusing.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

And some strange names.

I didn't even know 'grudge' was in the game until I saw this thread. Maybe I'm lucky.

Those are not dwarf names.

Those. Are ELF names!

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Try reading the elf language file again. It's a different language entirely.

What are they, then?

If dwarves decided to live in trees like hippies, they'd still do it better than the elves.

Probably some sort of mod-race.
I considered goblin, but the nicknames don't have enough "Murderkill" and "Severbreakmaimrender" in them.

Note that he is a friend of almost all the nobles. I'd keep out of his way, he has friends in high places.

Being friends with nobles makes them less of a target?  What game have I been playing?

This fortress is turning into some kind of supervillain lair or something.

Dwarven doors are so awed by the hammerer's authority that they frequently 'jam' when the hammerer receives a new assignment.

It's puzzling, really. Hammerers starve to death in my fortresses all the time. It's almost as if the fortresses don't want to share their new friend with the dwarves who created them.

DF Players never truly leave.  They just abandon the fortress for a few years and then reclaim.

I'm currently holding a grudge against my mayor, a mason got possessed and made a sarcophagus. 12 seconds later my mayor mandated the construction of 3 coffins. She also thinks 10 of my dorfs violated export bans.
