My dwarves have gone soft

I reclaimed one of my forts after about a year of adventuring only to find the next autumn that my dwarves now have an elf as their outpost liaison. My only guess is that they realized it was getting dangerous travelling around to other civilizations so they put their caged elves to good use.

At least you won't feel that bad if he she the elf was killed by some random ambush.

I looked at the civilization screen and they have a bloody elf as their diplomat too.  :o

They're pushing for the New Stereotype of elves as diplomats -- they must be stopped!

What you must do is kill all elven officials that cross your map, forcing them to eventually select a dorf for the position.
At the very least you get to kill lots of elves.
