That sounds pretty dandy, actually. Dig vertically downwards and hollow out the mountain for your fortress.

"Sir, can we not stop here?"
"No, we will take our wagon to the very summit of the mountain, only then do we rest to start our settlement!"
"But there's nothing up there!"
"It is the centre of the map! That is where our outpost must begin!"
"Centre of the- what are you talking about?"
"SILENCE WE ARE GOING TO THE TOP OF THE BLOODY MOUNTAIN AND YOU WILL BLOODY WELL APPRECIATE THE GRANDEUR AND SPECTACLE!"

Edit: Better idea. carve out the mountain range :D (Good thing i set it to "low savagery")

Just Imagine if he reclaims it eventually.

We'll scale these cliffs, traverse the bridge, then fight our way down the volcanic slopes on the other side.
Isn't the fastest route through the canyon?
Yes.
Then shouldn't we...
No.

Traverse the Brittle Bridge.

Stupid sexy canyon minotaurs.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

I know but what dwarf builds a brittle bridge.

They're only good in limited anyway. Plenty of better cards then a 3/3 for 4.

It's a 4/3.

/offtopic

I'm marvelling at how a embark quirk managed to derail a thread from DF to KoL to MtG. It's the beauty of these forums I guess.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.
