I haven't got any nice engravings to share (just lots of stuff about some lake titan killing a dorf in history),
but these days I take it upon myself to dig a biggish room and have one column or line engraved each year
so that I can check it out and get a "history record" of sorts and the dorf gossip.

This is a masterful rendition of clouds.

Spoiler:  So is this (click to show/hide)

Am I a legendary engraver now?

That's not entirely fair on the engraver now, is it. A masterful rendition of clouds would suggest that he has engraved images of clouds with incredible skill, what if he can engrave clouds on-par with the likes of this painting?

Or perhaps this?

The thought that a small drunken idiot could be on par with DaVinci or Michelangelo or that other really old dead guy never crossed my mind.

What about Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I suppose he wasn't necessarily an idiot, but he does seem to fit all of the aforementioned categories. Of course, who are we to judge idiocy amongst Dwarven artists? Being foolish may not always inhibit artistic ability.

Engravers and people making artifacts are strange people. I had a moody dwarf make an artifact out of cat bone with a picture of itself with a picture of itself with a picture of itself with a picture of itself with a picture of itself and a picture of a dwarf on fire, all made with various wood.

Guys, my legendary engraver is starting to do some more stuff. Her masterworks sometimes consist of a square or an armory stand. I've even had two dying kobold pictures. But for the most part, I am still getting a lot of crocs eating humans.

I'm starting to wonder if this world has any named crocodiles.

here's a good one
"Engraved on the floor is a superiorly designed image of Avuz Oilyfenced the dwarf and Abba Hollowmined the Clean Bust the human by Nomal Okmelbil.  Avuz Oilyfenced is cringing.  Abba Hollowmined the Clean Bust is striking a menacing pose.  The artwork relates to the smashing of the dwarf Avuz Oilyfenced's second finger, right hand by the human Abba Hollowmined the Clean Bust in the early spring of 120 during Spusustrok, "The Disemboweled Battles".

Sounds like they had a little fight. But yet it sounds really overblown as far as descriptions go.

What Mebzuth has in creativity and meta-humour, he lacks in brains. Dude decided to smooth a wall fom the outside of a fortress (which somehow would also smooth the wall on the inside), during a goblin seige. My squad that I had been training for months in-game were already wiped out, so I had to assemble a crew of dwarves with no combat training at all just to save his sorry ass.
As luck would have it, as soon as he realized what a poor choice he had made, he ran off away from the fortress he had just exited, but only one goblin pursued him. He was chased across the map, finally fighting back out of desperation and fracturing the goblin's leg. So the goblin gave up and Mebzuth wandered off... just before getting attacked by an entire different squad of goblins.
He was almost certain to be killed this time, so I assigned him to a burrow inside the fortress, hoping he'd get it through his dwarven skull that he might want to go to the one place where the goblins couln't follow him. He seemed to be going for that, but, luckily enough aforementioned the aforementioned last resort squad replacements managed to kill just enough of the other goblin squad for the goblins to call the seige off.
And that's how my Too Dumb To Live but too important to die Engraver got about 10 people killed just because he likes working outdoors.

EDIT: He's dead. Apparently a couple goblins stay behind and one of them caught him. It's a painful irony that he'll be buried in a tomb full of ameteur engravings. Perhaps I just won't engrave it at all.

My engraver has a thing this particular seige. Every other engraving, it's "Human McDelicious gets eaten by a jaguar in the 'Seige of Assaulting'" it was like the humans managed to piss off a whole continent.

In my last fort the legendary engraver churned on repeat:
- pictures of himself surrounded by oysters and looking terrified
- pictures of the mayor embracing donkeys
- !!elf merchant!!

Scared of oysters
No idea, maybe the Mayor was fucking the donkeys.
Excellent.

I do know of that, the things name is Zusmo the hare brute. Since hare is another word for rabbit it's safe to assume it's a bunny. What else interesting could happen in year 6.

That's a clown.

I've mentioned this in another topic but my artists have an infatuation with a titan called "Nethgon Blossomdung the Leopard of Love."

I've had at least four statues made depicting said swamp titan killing different humans on different years, and a child who went all moody made a feather wood carving of the same thing that got him legendary (child prodigy much?) Also they like to make stuff related to my dwarven miner killing my berserk dwarf, and statues/engravings of my militia commander becoming a militia commander.

I made the mistake of having something like ten walls engraved, and at least a quarter of them yet again depicted the swamp titan killing humans.

I'm not sure what the deal is, but they really love watching swamp titans kill humans.

What exactly triggers a Beast Rampage during World Gen anyway? I see them crop up from time to time in Legends mode, but it seems a bit random. I've seen them include everything from a mere handful of sasquatch and wolves all the way to a massive herd of elephants and lions.
